My Journey to Shooting
My journey to shooting started early, my dad first took me to the range when I was seven. By the time I was sixteen, I was training regularly, and in 2004 I shot my first USPSA match. Today, I compete as a Grand Master in the USPSA Production division and have expanded into the Carry Optics division. In addition to USPSA, I also enjoy s 2-Gun, Steel Challenge, Pro Am and bowling pin matches.
Undeniably, my passion evolved beyond competition into coaching and community building. In 2017, I launched my first training program, “Baller Bootcamp,” which quickly gained traction with some local shooters. A year later, in 2018, I co-founded The Shoot Fast Podcast with Cody Axon. We shared insights on training, competition and improvement. Much to our surprise, the podcast was a hit and quickly became a very popular shooting podcast. Unlike other shooting podcasts, we talked through matches and what things we were hoping to improve on in our shooting. The Shoot Fast Podcast ended in July of 2021 as Cody’s professional career grew and he started a family.
Overall, coaching has become a central part of what I do. I’ve had the opportunity to teach across the country, working with practical shooters, law enforcement, and military groups. My approach focuses on identifying each shooter’s specific needs and providing individualized and actionable feedback. Understanding no two shooters are the same, I have a natural ability to identify areas of improvement and diagnose issues involving shooting for students in my classes. Additionally, I provide students with corrective action based on their individual needs.
In 2019, I joined Practical Shooting Training Group (PSTG) as a moderator. Shortly after, PSTG organized our first “Summit,” which was an invitation only class for members of PSTG. Overall, the Summit was a hit and is now an annual event that PSTG members look forward to. In 2025, I bought a partnership in PSTG. Later in 2025, shooting, teaching and creating content became my full time job. This allowed me a better work and home life and afforded me more time on the range to continue my passion.
Lastly, my love for shooting doesn’t just stop at the range, I host a weekly shooting podcast, write shooting blogs and am a co-author of several books. Above all, seeing my students succeed is one of the main reasons I enjoy coaching
In 2025, I started producing YouTube content full time and enjoy providing new and experienced shooters with information I wish I had when I first started shooting, things I’ve learned along the way and gear reviews. If you check my social media, you will see I often post full classes and unedited shooting videos.
